Summer School Librarian

Beginning Salary- $25.53
Hours: Open 4 hours each day plus a total of 5 hours (CLOSED) for acting Librarian to handle technical and administrative duties- ex. Additional program prep and set up; publicity for local papers, radio, and cable; shelving materials; etc.
1. Valid Pennsylvania Department of Education Library/Elementary Certification, preferred.
2. Demonstrated experience in developing activity programs related to reading and literature.
3. Experience working and supervising groups of students, required.
4. Good presentation skills, required.
5. Possess knowledge, skills, and abilities as listed below, required.
6. Maintain a positive attitude with students.
7. Such alternatives to the above as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable. .
REPORTS TO: Elementary and / or Middle School Principal
JOB GOAL: To provide interest related and enriching library experiences to students in the Kane community during summer months.
Performance Responsibilities:
Develop a summer library program flyer to be handed out to preschoolers and
elementary students prior to students leaving for summer vacation.
Plan and implement literature-related programs (i.e., fingerplays/flannelboard presentations/
story reading and/or storytelling experiences/ related DVDs or films, as well as
supplemental crafts and activities) for two distinct age groups:
a. Children entering or just completing kindergarten
b. Children having completed 1st or 2nd grade
Plan and implement special multi-age presentations (especially for those having completed
grades 3-5).
Plan and implement a summer reading contest with appropriate specifications for the variety
of ages involved.
Publicize the summer library program via the newspaper, radio & Comcast cable.
Provide accessibility to the library's resources for informational and recreational reading
as well as to on-line programs and websites.
Provide reading guidance as needed.
Maintain scrapbook on summer library programs (include newspaper clippings, sample
flyers, contest forms, etc.)
Handle technical & administrative duties of the library ? ex. additional program prepara-
tion and set-up, circulation procedures, shelving of library materials, sorting
mail/checking in new magazines and periodicals, etc.
10. Any other duties assigned by the Superintendent or his/her designee.
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret literature, periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, and administrative regulations. Ability to write reports, correspondence, and procedures. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from individual groups of colleagues, students, and supervisors.
Ability to calculate, problem solve and apply mathematic concepts of courses assigned to teach.
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variable in situation where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory in a specific field. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff and the community. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely in both oral and written form. Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
